
Dorothy Smith, 88 of Columbus, OH, died unexpectedly on July 1, 2023, at OSU East. She was born to the late Roosevelt and Rosebud Chapman in Columbus, Mississippi on September 11, 1934. She is preceded in Death by (Husband), David Smith Sr., (Sons) Charles Smith Sr., Roosevelt Smith, Terri Smith, and Tony Smith, (Son-in-laws) Robert Walker Jr and Carter Hairston, (Siblings), Rosetta Hill, Susana Chapman, Emma Brown, Georgia Mae Hutchinson, and Mildred Smith, William A. Roberson and Roosevelt Roberson, (Grandchildren, Charles Smith Jr. and Shenee Pruitt-Smith. Dorothy was survived by (Children), David (April) Smith Jr., Barbara Smith, Geraldine Walker, Alice (Webster) Pruitt, and Dorothy Hairston, (Daughter-in-law), Catherine Smith, (Siblings), Margaret Sean Hospin, Robert Roberson and Roger Roberson and a host of grand and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy moved from Columbus, Mississippi at the age of 14 to Columbus, OH. Later in life she would marry the love of her life 0f 64 years, David Smith Sr. and they shared 9 beautiful children. together.
Dorothy retired from Bexley High School Custodial services. After retirement she worked for St. Ann’s for 7 years. Dorothy also known as Dot T was a loving wife, mother, sister, grand and great-grandmother, auntie, and friend. She enjoyed fishing at Lake Erie &; Buckeye Lake, catching a breeze on the front porch, cooking her signature recipes that she passed down to so many, dancing, and
listening to some of her favorite tunes, which included B.B King, Howling Wolfe, Shirley Caesar, and many other jazz/blues, gospel and R&B artist. She will be forever in our hearts and missed dearly.

Grandma! We love you and miss you dearly. I had the pleasure of being with you when you transioned into eternal life. My mother instilled in her children that we speak too her daily as we’ve been doing. It just hurts that she can’t continue to speak to you EVERYDAY. We love and miss you!
