NucklosWilliam

Dr. William W. Nucklos, age 71. Sunrise January 03, 1948 and Sunset July 14, 2019.
71 years, 6 months and 11 days marked the time William Wolff Nucklos would need to fulfill his destiny. On a cold day in January, Olee Nucklos birthed a future husband, father, physician, and pastor.

Dr. William Wolff Nucklos was known to some as “Dubby”, others would call him Bill, and many would simply call him “Doc.”

Bill was a proud graduate of Canton McKinley High School. Bill then attended Bowling Green State University, and The Ohio State University. He earned a B.S. from the former and M.S. and M.D. from the latter.

While “Dubby” was in graduate school, he married Shirley Ann Curtis, his high school sweetheart on March 11, 1972. They would go on to have 3 children.

Bill Nucklos had a successful private medical practice for over 30 years in Columbus, Ohio. His office was known around the city for its Christmas parties and extensive workout facility.

All who knew “Doc”, also knew he was a Buckeye fanatic! You didn’t stand a chance trying to argue with him about his beloved Alma Mater. It was Big 10 or bust, and he had all the stats to back it up!

Dr. Nucklos’ final assignment was that of a Pastor. In 2014 he was officially installed as Pastor of Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C., in Canton, Ohio. It was in his role as Pastor that his divine gifts were cultivated.

“Doc” was one to whom many looked up. He had a heart of gold and was always helping someone in some manner. He never hesitated when someone was in need and taught his family to be generous and thoughtful. Doc spent countless hours mentoring, counseling and providing encouragement to those around him. His quick wit, sage advice and motivating spirit will truly be missed.

He is preceded in death by his father Pastor Lee Nucklos and wife Shirley C. Nucklos. He is survived by his mother Olee Nucklos; 3 sisters, Patricia Ann Nucklos, Dr. Ruby Nucklos and Dr. Rosie Doughty; 4 children, Tuere Nucklos, Tiombe O’Rourke (Kenneth), Khari Nucklos and Quran Nucklos; 2 grandchildren, Alasia Nucklos and Kenneth O’Rourke III; special nieces, Alexis Allen and Nia Harvey; beloved friend, Toni Catenacci.

Visitation 10:00am and Home Going Service 11:00am Friday July 19, 2019 at The Johnson Center on the campus of Malone University 2600 Cleveland Ave. NW Canton, OH.

Entombment at Union Cemetery.

Condolence from Michael Gore on July 18th, 2019 11:24 pm

To the family of Dr. Nucklos,
Though I have never had the pleasure of meeting you individually, I have always perceived Dr. Nucklos as a dear friend. The Doctor was six years my senior at The Ohio State University where I majored in accounting and went on to become an accountant and auditor for 35 years. In many ways because of his positive influence, as a body builder and mentor, I became a better representation of myself. I want to thank your family heritage line for having known him, and to let you know he was a great man that I, my family and friends will miss dearly. God bless the Nucklos’ family throughout eternity.

Condolence from C Crockett on July 20th, 2019 4:22 am

No words can express my shock and sadness at this moment. I had no idea when looking for another friend I’d find Doc’s obituary! My husband and I were just talking about him the other her day. He was the sweetest doctor and looked out for me like a dad. I’m truly saddened as I know his family is for his huge loss. He was larger than life and always put his patients first. I so admired that about him as well as him being “forever young”. Will miss your dearly and always think of you kindly Doc. Love you.

Condolence from John Scott on August 22nd, 2019 9:28 am

RIP “Bill” Dr. JS Scott/ “Knuuks” Former Professor at BGSU 1970’s.

Condolence from Michael Montgomery on August 28th, 2019 9:56 am

To the family and friends of Bill, I extend my sympathy and condolences upon his passing.

I played football with Bill at Bowling Green State University, where he was a tenacious, strong, quick and fierce Middle Guard.

I was an offensive Center; therefore, I would often be matched up against Bill in practice. Frankly, in addition to another one of our teammates (Joe Green), I never went head-to-head against anyone who was as strong as Bill and Joe. Indeed, from his Hall of Fame days at Canton McKinley High School, to his football and wrestling days at BGSU, Bill was a fine athlete.

I transferred to another university in the fall of 1968; therefore, I haven’t seen Bill for over fifty years. However, over those years, I have often told stories about a great football player, whom I once had as a teammate, named Bill Nucklos.

Rest In Peace, Bill

Best regards,

Mike Montgomery

Condolence from Darchelle L Williams on June 9th, 2021 6:18 pm

My dear Mother and I were just reminiscing about a trip that we took to Canton with Doc to hear him preach. He got a chance to meet my Grandmother, we got a chance to meet his Mother, break bread together and fellowship. Those were great memories. I took my 3 month old granddaughter with us and she didn’t make a sound all through the service and was such a great baby during the whole trip. It was a wonderful day and the last time we saw him. I wanted to call and tell him that I finally graduated from College and thank him for his guidance and help during a health crisis that I suffered after he was no longer practicing here in Columbus. Because of his help, I was able to eventually get better and return to school. I looked him up, as we had lost touch, and we were shocked and saddened to learn of his passing.
Mom and I were both patients of his and so was my son Yusef. He was a kind, caring and dedicated Doctor, and I had the pleasure of singing for a few of his Christmas parties that he gave for his patients and staff each year. He was an excellent Physician, Mentor and Pastor and will be sadly missed. Our most sincere condolences go out to his family. Rest in Eternal Power with God and His Angels Doctor Nucklos. We’ll always love and have the upmost respect for you.

I was going through some old papers & pulled out Dr Nuckols information. I looked him up & saw he had passed. I remember the first time going to to his office (Copeland mill lane in Westerville) seeing this man who was tall & really built(he talked really strong & loud). I first wanted to turn & leave but after being there it was awesome. He was a great man & physician he treated me when I was young he always gave me great talks. I will never forget his words of encouragement. I have always thought of him over the years because he had a unique last name like mine. My prayers go to the family. Dr Nuckols went on did even better work serving the Lord. I too, lost my father July 6, 2019. He will always be remembered & missed, blessings to the family. My sincere condolences & prayers.

Condolence from Mike Kalish on December 10th, 2023 11:08 pm

Bill and I were teammates on Canton McKinley’s wrestling team, and were close enough in weight that I often wrestled him in practice. Anyone who knew him knew he was a gifted athlete, and I certainly knew him as such. I only wish I could have known him as the wonderful doctor, pastor, husband, father, and adult that he obviously became.
