Earl Johnson, age 80. Sunrise October 10, 1940 and Sunset June 20, 2021.

Earl Johnson, age 80, was born in Ripley, TN to Robert Earl Johnson and Ruth Mae Gause on October 10, 1940. Earl departed this earth on June, 20, 2021. Earl attended Bruce High School until 1957. After leaving High School, Earl joined the United States Army National Guard.

While Earl was in the Army, he enjoyed traveling around the world. Some of the amazing places he was able to visit were Texas, Michigan, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, to name a few. During his tenure in the army, Earl worked as a cook and eventually became known for his delicious pecan rolls. He also enjoyed eating sweets as much as he enjoyed cooking and would also often ask you to sneak him a snickers bar in a minute.

Earl went on to work for The Ohio State University’s Golf Course for more than 20 years as a cook. Additionally, Earl worked for the railroad and the local fish market.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents Robert Earl Johnson and Ruth Mae Gause, brothers, James Lee Gause, and Willie T. Johnson.

Earl leaves to cherish, his Wife Verna Jean Johnson, Sister; Mattie Sue Johnson, Daughters; Eris Eaves, Nicole Darby, Mechelle Darby, Tammy Darby, Regina Darby.  Sons; Earl A. Eaves, Reginald Jones, Dominic Johnson, Earl Johnson and a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Whether it was traveling, hanging out with his friends at Rickenbacker, cooking or spending time with loved ones, Earl will be remembered as a loving God-fearing man.
Earl will truly be missed and his family plans to keep his legacy alive and to carry his spirit with them every day.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Monday, June 28, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Northlawn Memory Gardens.
