Ebo Akafia, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 23rd, 2020. He was born on June 5th, 1948 in Cape Coast, in the Central Region of Ghana. He was born to Mr. Felix Akafia of Anloga in the Volta Region and Madam Beatrice Acquah who hails from Cape Coast both of blessed memory. He was the fourth of 18 siblings. Ebo Akafia was originally christened Michael Curt Akafia but officially changed his name to Ebo Akafia in 1980.

Ebo started his elementary education at Nana Nketsiah Memorial School. He continued to Fijai Secondary School and then completed his lower and upper sixth form education at Tamale Secondary School. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in business administration majoring in Accounting from the University of Ghana.

He met his wife Juliana Akafia in 1978 and got married in 1980. On June 10th,1988, Ebo and Juliana welcomed their daughter Nana Aba Ewusiwa Akafia-Ivory.
Upon completion of his tertiary education he worked as an external auditor with Peat Marwick, an accounting firm in Accra. He also worked with Holman Brothers in Accra as a Chief Accountant In 1981 he moved to the Western Region and worked at the Bogoso Oil Mills as a General Manager. Ever penchant for success, his ever-zealous nature landed him a role at the Western Regional Development Corporation (WEREDEC) as a Chief Accountant where he worked a couple of years. He proceeded to work for Swiss Lumber Company where he worked as a Finance Manager for 22years. He doubled as a Financial Consultant for Green Coal Limited another subsidiary of Swiss Lumber and he retired from both jobs in 2014. On July 6th, 2019 he and his wife relocated to the United States of America on July 6th, 2019 to live with their daughter. Ebo had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. His joy was serving the Lord and his community.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter, many brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and friends. Family, friends, and others whose lives Ebo touched are invited to the Marlan Gary Funeral Home, 2500 Cleveland Ave, Columbus, OH, 43211 on Saturday June 6th, 2020 from 9am-11:30am to reminisce, grieve and support each other. He will be laid to rest at the Blendon Central Cemetery, 6330 S Hempstead Rd, Westerville, OH, 43081 also on Saturday June 6th, 2020 from 11:45am.
