Elaine Damon, daughter of the late Marie and Hosa Blye Sr., was born January 28, 1958, in New York City, New York, and was called home to the LORD on March 23, 2020. As the only girl child born to Marie and Hosa, it was only right she was born on her mother’s birthday.

Elaine was educated in the New York public school system graduating from James Monroe High School. Shortly after completing her schooling, she married Roosevelt Damon Jr in 1974, and from this union, three beautiful children were born, Diane (74), Roosevelt (76), and Kathryn (78). In 1982, Elaine started her career as an NYC Correction Officer stationed at Rikers Island. After eleven years of dedicated service, she retired.

Elaine loved spending time with her family and friends. Being one of the brightest smiles in the room, she brought love, laughter, and fun everywhere she went. In the past two years she took up traveling to such places like Japan and Dominica Repbulic for vacation.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents Marie and Hosa Blye Sr., brothers Hosa Jr, Herman, and David Blye. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her husband, Roosevelt Damon; her children Diane Blye, Roosevelt (Carrissa) Damon III, and Kathryn Damon; brother Billie (Brenda) Blye; along with grandchildren Michelle Damon, Micheal Damon, Aalima Blye, Jada Damon, Anthony Damon, and Alexander Damon; great-grandchildren – Liyah Damon, Liliana Blye, and Anthony Blye; along with eight nieces, six nephews; nineteen grand nephews and eight grand-nieces; 1 goddaughter and a host of extended family and close friends.

My Sweet friend/coworker Elaine had attended the COBA Reunion for the first time in May 2019 and she was so over joyed with happiness that she was crying and I asked her girl why you crying & she stated “I am so happy that I finally made it to the reunion to see everybody I haven’t seen in years” it was good seeing her too but I couldn’t have imagined it will be my last time that I would see her on this earth But I will certainly see her in the heavenly earth when we’re all caught to meet Jesus. Sleep my friend take your rest & I will see you on the other side. Love ❤️ Your friend

Joy comes in the morning
Know that God is nigh
Stand still and look up
God is going to show up
He is standing by
There’s healing for your sorrow
Healing for your pain
Healing for your spirit
There’s shelter from the rain
Lord send the healing
For this we know
There is a balm in Gilead
To heal the soul. I love you and know I’m here for all of you if you need anything.

To the Family of Elaine Damon,
I am grateful that my Sister in Blue (Elaine) did a wellness check on me a few days before she expired just to see if I was alright. The fact that she thought enough to reach out fills my heart. I am praying for comfort for the family but I know she has been welcomed into the Kingdom.

Condolence from Melissa Brown on April 4th, 2020 1:57 pm

I knew Ms Elaine from work where she was a security guard and during her years she always made sure I was smiling when I walked into the building every morning and she would greet me with her beautiful smile with her pretty red lipstick she always wore. We became pretty close through her years at hnb and I missed her when she left. Later through the years I met her daughter Diane through a mutual friend and I ended up working with her granddaughter Michelle now. She will never realize how much she helped me with some struggles back then just by her kind words and that beautiful smile got me through some days at work. Diane and Michelle my heart goes out to you both and to your whole family during this time.. you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs
