Sarah Mae Frances Elder, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023 in Crystal Care Center, Mansfield, Ohio at the age of 99 years. Sarah was born in Turin, Georgia on June 12, 1923 to Wilbur and Katy Johnson. Mother Sarah was a faithful servant for over 60 years at the Apostolic Church of Christ serving actively as Sunday School Secretary, Usher, member of the adult class, and the Christians Womens Missionary Auxiliary. Mother Elder’s gentle and kind spirit is already missed. Her sincere outspoken conversations, her smile and humor will resound as cherished memories. Her love for God and the experiences shared will be a part of her legacy. Sarah leaves to cherish her memories, a son Sylvester Bobby Elder; grandchildren Christopher (Shiela) Elder and Andrea Elder; great grandchildren Rashad Reed Sr., Shantwoinette Smith, Sadarah Scott Elder, Aaron Elder, Janeria Minard and Jordan Elder; 6 great- great- grandchildren; sister in law Helen Johnson; special niece Sarah Brooks; sister in Christ Troy Ray; and grand-dog Fred G. Elder. Sarah is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Robert, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. The family will receive friends at the home of Christopher Elder, 416 Harmon Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-6 pm. Visitation 10:00 am and funeral service 11:00 am on Thursday April 20, 2023 at the MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE MANSFIELD, 753 McPherson Street Mansfield, Ohio (formerly Williams Funeral Services).
