Elizabeth I. (Cason) Wimbley, 91, daughter of the late Willie and Alma (Wilson) Cason. She was one of seven children born to them. Elizabeth went home to Heaven on Friday, April 17, 2020 in the comfort of her home. She was cared for by her loving family and Mount Carmel Hospice Care.

Elizabeth, or “Sister” as she was affectionately called by her family, was born on

January 6, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio. She was educated in the Columbus Public School System. She had to leave school at an early age to help support her family. However, one of her most significant accomplishments was returning to night school to obtain her diploma. On June 14, 1972, she graduated first class speaker with honors.

On April 6, 1947 (Easter Sunday), she was united in holy matrimony to the “Love of her Life,” Samuel Wimbley, Sr.. Elizabeth and Sam shared a loving union and from this union two children were born: Wanda Lee Veasley (Wesley Sealey) and Samuel Wimbley Jr.. Elizabeth and Sam lived on the Westside/Hilltop until the Lord called him from his labor to his reward.

Elizabeth was employed as a Food Service Manager for The Ohio State University Hospital. She held this position with pride and dedication. She retired from OSU with 37 years of service.

She attended Trinity Baptist Church where she was later baptised. As a child she was a member of the Sunshine Band, Junior Missionary and Sunday School for Children. At the age of 21 she became a member and faithfully served in many capacities. For many years, she served as secretary of the Health Care Ministry. She also served with the Catering Ministry and Vacation Bible School until her health no longer permitted her to serve. She was a faithful servant for over 70 years.
