Eric Brian Smith Sr. lovingly known as “Rick or Ricky”, was born in Morgantown, WV on July 24, 1963 as the 2nd son (3rd child) of Carl J. Smith Sr. and Patricia L. Isom. On March 1, 2023, he passed away at the age of 59, peacefully at home, following Congestive Heart Failure.

Rick grew up in Morgantown West Virginia and he also grew up in Detroit Michigan. He graduated from Morgantown High School in 1981. He later moved to Columbus, Ohio and was employed at Discover Card Services for 18 years as a Collections Specialist, Collections Team Lead and as a Trainer. He also spent 10 years coaching basketball at Barnett Recreational Center and various Columbus Nike Basketball Leagues and as a Champion Coach for the Eastland Vikings.

He was a Computer Specialist, a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan and a man of the people.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents; Carl Smith and Patricia Isom, brothers; Carl Smith Jr., Mark Peterson, and sister; Maya Bledsoe.

Rick leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife; Billi Smith, sons; William Darnell (Jonathan) Fryer, Eric Smith Jr., Dallas Smith, daughter; D’Erica Smith, granddaughter; Melody Smith, sisters; Demetria (Ernest) Summers, Alicia Smith, Sharmille Smith, Jamie Scott and Shallon Johnson, brothers; Rodney Smith and Michael Cranford and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
