hillmon

Eric Hillmon was born in Columbus Ohio on March 3,1964 to the union of John O. Hillmon. and Barbara J. (Brown) Hillmon. Eric was a product of the Columbus Public School System and a graduate from Columbus Alternative High School and he attended Columbus State University here in the heart of the city. He was a devoted Father and loved his son dearly and he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Eric was very compassionate and his whole life’s work was advocacy for others. He was very loving and passionate about his family, friends and loved ones and enjoyed speaking to them daily. He loved to listen to and sing gospel music and he loved the Lord.

On the early morning of Wednesday, March 10, 2021 Eric was called home to his final place of rest. Only GOD knows the day and the hour He picks someone to join Him and give them the gift of eternal life with no more suffering. Although our hearts and flesh hurt with his departure here from Earth, any suffering for Eric is no longer.

Eric is preceded in death by his Father, John O. Hillmon, and Brother, John Phillip Hillmon; his Paternal Grandparents Ardene and Isolene Hillmon, Maternal Grandfather Thomas E. Brown; uncles, Glen Brown, Thomas Brown Jr. Don J Brown and Phillip Lindsey; Aunts Barbara Lindsey, Geraldine Abercrombie and Arlene Black.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his Loving Mother Barabara J. (Brwon) Hillmon and his only Son, Devin L. Hillmon; Maternal Grandmother Margaret M. Brown; Brother, Michael T. Hillmon and Sister, Inez M. (Vance) Valentine; Maternal Aunts Victoria (James) Maddox, Linda (Dallas) Smith, Darlene (Donald) Turner, and Uncle John Brown; Special Nieces and Nephews, John O. Rice, LaToya M. Brewer, Danielle Hillmon, Domonique Hillmon, Lashawn (Kachina) Rice, Audrianna Houston Hillmon; fourteen Grandchildren, a loving host of close cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, loved ones and friends that will truly miss him forever more.

I was shocked when I received that phone call from you(Barb) and I could not say anything to you at the time. Eric had such an incredible personality and sprit about him. But just remember all those memories he has left you with to cherish and to remember him by. The sadness will fade away and you will eventually have all those happy times that you and him have spent together. Better days are coming

Barbara Hillmon and Family–
We just received the sad news about the loss of your son, Eric, and we can only imagine the void that he left in all of your hearts. However, as you endure his departure be reminded of God’s assurance that the ultimate end is not death, but eternal life. Continue to trust Him for He is truly our refuge and strength, an ever present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Also, be assured that we are lifting you up in prayer, love, and an everlasting friendship.

Condolence from Grayce Steele on March 26th, 2021 9:07 am

Dear Cousin, I am trying to Fathom the thought of you being gone. It ‘s as though I’m in a dream and I haven’t awaken. The days prior to your last Birthday I remember our last visit together and our phone call till 2 AM the in the morning laughing and joking as we always did. You were my peace in the midst of my storms. You always knew how to keep me calm, say something funny to make me laugh and put a smile on my face. You were my confidant, friend , cousin and my Sunshine in the Rain. I still find myself waking up 6 AM in the morning getting a cup of coffee reaching for the phone to call you for our morning talk sessions. My Heart is so Heavy without You. You are Forever Missed may you Rest in Peace now My Dear Cousin. I Love And Miss You . Your Cousin Grayce Steele
