Erika Polk

Erika Louise (Kay) Polk was born on December 29, 1966, in Sherman, Texas. She moved to Mansfield, Ohio at a young age where she was reared by her mother, Jarvis Polk Marsh, and her step-father, Eddie Marsh. Erika was a 1985 graduate of Malabar High School, and a graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, where she majored in chemical engineering. After graduation, Erika worked in the Mansfield public schools coaching track and field and basketball, and tutoring many students in math, sciences, and other subjects. Prior to moving to Mansfield, Ohio, Erika was a member of the Friendly Church of God in Christ, Sherman, TX. In the city of Mansfield, Erika was faithful and active in her church, The Oasis of Love Church of God in Christ, where she was a member of the trustee board, taught Sunday School, and worked in the children’s church. Erika also served as a Finance Officer for the Ohio North First Jurisdiction, Bishop Edward T. Cook, Prelate.

Erika leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Jarvis Polk Marsh of Mansfield, Ohio; Brothers, Elder Gerald Polk (Joetta) of Mansfield, and David Polk (Angela) of Sherman, Texas; Sister, Iris Medrano of Sherman; Nieces, Lashana Steele and Sylvia Hopson; Nephews, Dantreyus Hopson and Nieman Hughley. Among the loved ones who mourn her passing are uncles and aunts: Barbara Howard, James Polk, Mary Johnson, Carl Polk, Ben Polk, Jimmy Polk, Lavora Spencer, Leonard Polk, Terry Polk, Cheryl Polk, and Yana Bullard. Erika is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.

Visitation for Erika L. Polk will be held at 10 a.m. on March 4, 2022, at The Oasis of Love Church of God in Christ, 190 Chester Ave. Mansfield, Ohio. The Homegoing Celebration for Erika will follow at 11 a.m. Eulogist will be Elder Gerald Polk.

Interment at Mansfield Cemetery.
