Ervin Lee Vincent was born July 3, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the first son born to John and Elizabeth Vincent.

Ervin attended Eastmoor High School but left to pursue a career in the Marines Reserves. Later he transferred to the 82nd Airborne Division of the Army as a medic and later retired. He received a purple heart in 1967 for his service in Vietnam.

Ervin returned home in 1967. He worked as a meat inspector for the Ohio Meat Packing Company. He married Joan Clayton in 1966. They had a son Ervin Lamont Vincent on February 2, 1974.

Ervin went to night school at Central High School and received his high school diploma. He continued his education at Franklin University and received an associates degree.

Ervin worked at the Defense Construction Supply Center as a supply clerk until he retired.

Ervin had a passion for fishing. He loved to sit on the riverbank. On Sundays, you would find him with his favorite nephew Keith Vincent on the riverbank or in the backyard grilling and cooking greens or watching his favorite football team the Cleveland Browns.

Ervin also known as “Uncle Pete” had a heart of gold when it came to helping a family member in time of need. He would always say, “Don’t tell anyone…this is between me and you.”

Ervin was preceded in death by his father, John Vincent; mother, Elizabeth Vincent; and sister, Theresa Vincent.

Ervin is survived by his loving son, Ervin Lamont (LaToya) Vincent; grandchildren, Erin, Cameron, Collin, and Cairyn; brothers, John Vincent (Dottie) and Walter Vincent; sister, Saundra Crook; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A precious one from us is gone. A voice we loved is still. A place is vacant in our hearts, which can never be filled; although a lot of heartaches, and many sorrowful tears; there is always a beautiful memory of one we love so dear.
