Eugene Alonzo “Jaws” Mangum was born on February 19, 1979 in Columbus, Ohio to Eugene Swanson and Teresa (Mangum) Busby.

Eugene was a unique and adventurous young man. His sister describes him as a firecracker. He talked about cooking a lot and loved to cook and share his recipes. If you knew him, he was funny. He loved his family and always wanted to bring everyone together. He faced many different challenges and obstacles in his life and overcame many. One thing for sure, Jaws was definitely a fighter.

Eugene is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Swanson; maternal grandparents, Julius Mangum Sr., and Grace Mangum; uncle, Julius Mangum, Jr.; aunt, Jacqueline Mangum; and brother, Roger L. Knight, Jr.

Eugene is survived by his mother, Teresa R. (Franklin) Busby; brothers, Edward (Holly) Pyfrom, Thomas Anderson, Jr., David Busby, and Franklin Busby, Jr.; sisters, Cassandra Anderson, and Cynthia Anderson; aunts, Valerie (Andre) Sullivan and Crystal (Kenneth) Joyce; Swanson family; and a host of other family members and friends.

Eugene will be missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Condolence from Emma Mangum on December 10th, 2021 12:29 pm

Beloved Family and Friends, My heart and prayers goes out to you during this great loss of Eugene (Jaws). I always chuckled at his beloved name when his grandfather would bring him and his brothers by for a visit; he loved those guys! I had forgotten we shared the same birthdate and now I am reflecting on so many cherished things of the past. Please be reminded that Rev. 21:3-5 says: “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
So cherish the God of all comfort and each other.
Love you so much, Cousin/Aunt Emma Mangum
