Evelyn H. (Mitchell) Breckenridge was called home on May 5, 2013. Born May 27, 1922 in Stokesbury, WV to the late Robert M. and Lula Bell (Coles) Mitchell. Evelyn was the youngest of eight children and attended Byrd Prillerman High School. She married the love of her life, Earl Breckenridge and to this union, seven children were born. Served in a domestic capacity for the State of West Virginia’s 27th Governor, the Honorable Hulett C. Smith and First Lady, Mary Alice Smith. She was a faithful member of Living Waters Christian Fellowship in Columbus, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, daughters Gwendoyln Breckenridge and Nora Ella Mitchell; brothers Frank, Charles, and Robert Mitchell; sisters Susie Mae Breckenridge, Margaret Thomas, Ann Patterson, and Alice Wright; grandson Chase Breckenridge and great grandson Emerson Patterson Jr. Survived by those left to cherish her wonderful memory which includes three daughters, Patricia (Orlando) Mullins of Powell, OH, Mildred (Andrew) Patterson and Carita (Henry) Nunnally of Atlanta, GA; and three sons, Earl Jr. (Lois) Breckenridge of Columbus, OH, Marvin Sr. (Agnes) and Mitchell (Felicia) Breckenridge of Detroit, MI. 20 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

  10. I would like to give my condolences for the passing of Ms. Evelyn Breckenridge. Although I never had the opportunity to meet her, her devoted granddaughter, Cicely, spoke very fondly of her. May her spirit be at peace and her memory live on foverever.
