Evelyn N. James

James Evelyn003 e1455335338197

Evelyn N. James was born to the late Charles E. Diggs Sr. and Beulah M. Diggs on October 28, 1939 in Beckley, West Virginia.

After graduating from Stratton High School, she relocated to Columbus Ohio. She retired from Mt. Carmel West Hospital in 1997 after 32 years of service as a Dietary Supervisor and continued working for Kenley Konnection Travel Agency for several years afterwards. She was a member of New Faith Baptist Church of Christ and a member of the missionary ministry. She loved to travel and was always on the move. She was a mother, sister, auntie, grandmother and a friend to all. She would always turn a bad day into a good day for anyone and she had a joyful way about her. Her smile would light up a room and always had you laughing. She loved shopping and just spending time with her daughters. She loved being a grandmother and going to visit her sons. She never met a stranger and was always lending an ear and whenever you needed guidance she would give you the truth good or bad and then say “let’s pray on it”. She loved the Lord, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents Charles Sr. and Beulah Diggs, brother CHarkles Jr., Albert, Clarence, and James R. Diggs and sisters-in-law Irene Diggs and Bertha Diggs.

She leaves to cherish her memory children Sheila (Michael) Barnes, Therome TJ (Tyra) James, Mark (Gail) James, and Tracy James Conyers, grandchildren Matthew BO Clair James, Mikayla James, Micaiah James and Logan James, sister Mary (Richard) Alston, brother Joseph Diggs, and sisters in law Barbara Diggs and Alee Williams, former husband Samuel James, special cousins, The Jones sisters, special friends Wanda Veasley, Debbie Barksdale, and Mary Brower, special daughters Seneca (Kenny) Spencer and Tennel Williams, special sons, the Stone Boys, David Norris, and Cornelius Mitchell, and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
