Evelyn Sue Burgess

BurgessEvelyn2

Mom, the words I want to say to express my deep pain in losing you are nowhere to be found. My mind is overloaded, my heart misfiring, my spirit hoping you’re in a better place.

I want you- I need you right now to kiss me one last time, to squeeze me one last time, to whisper, I Love you one last time.

I know now I’ll only be able to talk to you in the quiet of night, in the pit of my stomach, in the silent force surrounding me, feeling your boundless love in the drops of rain, in the sun’s heat. Rest in peace mom.

Evelyn Sue Burgess was called home to the Lord on April 17, 2020, at the age of 63. Before her untimely departure, she attended Columbus City Schools and eventually received her diploma. Evelyn was known to live her life without limits and overcame any obstacles that were thrown at her. She loved spending time with family and friends, caring for pets, sewing and playing cards. She was fond of music, enjoyed an occasional drink or few, and admired Smokey Robinson.

Preceding Evelyn in death are her mother and father, Susie and Enoch Burgess; sisters, Mary Baxter and Inez Burgess-Hammonds, and nephews Jeff, Chris and Steve Jr.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory, her brother Glenn Burgess, sister Alma (Charles) Clements, sons Clifford and Glenn Burgess, beloved daughter, Susie Burgess, grandbabies Shanequa, Cha’keyla and Davon Burgess; great grandbabies, Keshaun, Dayon, Kamari, Kira, Keyon, Davon II and Vira Burgess and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, special nephew and niece Virgil Hammonds and Lynn Lesley, cousins, close friends Sandy and Veronica, as well as many others.
