Condolence from Jennifer L. Williams on December 4th, 2018 9:33 am

I am truly sadden to hear about the passing of Frances Shakes. I have known Frances and Glenn, for many years, working at the Defense Finance Center (DFC)/Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). Frances always had a friendly, loving, and warm spirit when interacting with everyone. She also had a knack of a green thumb too. I will continue to pray for the Shakes’ family, during this difficult time of mourning. I hope that God will wrap his arms around each one of you and provide peace, understanding, love, faith, and mercies.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

Frances and I were very close coworkers for a long time at DFAS. I wish I had known about this sooner so I could have paid my respects. I just happened to meet another coworker, Margo Berry, at the grocery store, who told me about it. We had a lot of laughs and she was an excellent worker. May the family find comfort in this loss.

I worked with Frances many years and got to know Glenn pretty well, too. On the day of her funeral, I met someone else I worked with at DFAS when I was shopping at Kroger on Hamilton. So sorry I missed the notice in the Dispatch, as I certainly would have loved to be there in person to share comfort.
