Freddie graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1996 with a specialization diploma in culinary arts. Freddie prided himself on being a good cook. Growing up, he was always experimenting in the kitchen, finally coming up with a household favorite of pita bread pizza (it was REALLY good). Freddie lived life to the fullest and always kept a smile on his face and laughter in his gut. Freddie hardly ever was down or sad in front of anyone. Everyone who has come in contact with Freddie knows that he was humorous, sometimes when he shouldn’t be (that’s another story), but it proved that even in the darkest times, there was some light…even if you had to create it yourself. Freddie has touched so many lives and God had created a truly wonderful being. We almost feel undeserving of him being in our lives. Freddie loved rap music and aspired to one day record a rap song using a sample from Mahalia Jackson’s Banks of Jordan.
Freddie loved is family dearly and only wanted for them to be happy. Freddie has left a lifetime of memories and quotes. His greatest joy in his life was his daughters. Freddie leaves a lifetime of memories even for those who only had a little bit of time with him. Freddie was a strong man and endured whatever came his way with a smile and with dignity.
Freddie is preceded in death by his mother, Dortha Palmer-Trent; father, Fred Marshall Grady, daughter, Annie Lee Palmer; maternal grandparents, Betty A. and George H. Watkins, and Robert Palmer, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Fred and Ester Grady.
Survived by brothers, Fred L. Palmer, and Frederick (Pam) Pace; step brother, Chris Trent; sisters, Tanya Palmer, Tina (Zach) Hammerick, Lakishya Jackson of Huntington, West Virginia; daughters, Isreal and Jececka Palmer; step father, John Trent; Aunt Candy Tuff; fiancé, Bernice Brooks; children’s mother, Ebony Gray-Palmer; close cousin John Palmer; best friends, Curtis Johnson and Brandon; Lance Sessley, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday, March 5, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.

I am saddened to learn of Freddie’s passing. I hadn’t seen him in many years but we were good friends back in school. My prayers are with the family. Special prayer for Fred.

I met Fred & Freddie when they moved on Briarwood. We quickly became friends and have remained so ever since. Even when I moved away our crew still kept in touch with Fred, Freddie, Ryan, & Johnny visiting me on the weekends to kick it. Fred & Tanya, my heart breaks for you and please know that we are here for you in every way possible.

The family has my deepest condolences in their loss. I haven’t seen Dortha’s children or family in so long. My fondest memories of Freddie was he was always in good spirits. He was a jokester & was jolly. I know he’ll be truly missed but never forgotten.

It’s been just a little over one year since the day of your transition. Still can’t found complete reality that you’re physically not here. Can’t help but to think and wonder what your final thoughts were before entering eternity…that moment when your energy/spirit became free of the limits of Earth and gravity. Still can’t get a grip on the fact that you are physically gone…but not forgotten.
Dear Freddie,
Year number two since you physically departed from us here on the 3rd Rock from the sun and still missing you. It’s hard to believe you are not here, but it forces one to realize that we all will reach a point when someone will cry over and miss us. Sometimes it is a thought to wrestle with but a lesson in inevitability. Until then, know you are thought of and about. But more importantly, you are loved! O P P (O’Neal Palmer Posse) 4 Life!
