Fredrick L. Martin, age 74. Sunrise August 23, 1948 and Sunset April 24, 2023.

Fredrick “Fred” L. Martin Sr. was born on August 23, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert Lee and Annie Martin. He went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2023.

Fred was a standout football player and graduate of Central High School and the Northeast Career Center in Columbus, Ohio. He earned a degree in Real Estate from Franklin University and also attended The Ohio State University and the DeVry Institute of Technology. He was a US Army veteran and served in Vietnam in the 1970’s. Fred loved good music, fashion and was a cologne connoisseur. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved to have a good time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nadine Carter-Martin, stepdaughter Tina Carter, stepson Melvin Steward, and sisters Nancy Wade and Lynn Martin Stephens.

He leaves to cherish his memory, sons Philbert “Phil” Hylton Sr., Mark Hill and Fredrick Martin Jr., daughters, Brenda Porter, Anita Davis, Trena White and Latisha Porter, stepsons Ernest Carter Jr. and LaShaun (Cheree) Carter, brother Victor Martin, sisters, Katrina (Larry) Jackson, Gail Martin and Verna McKelvin, brother in law Calvin “Hank” Wade, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The celebration of life will take place at The Lord Jesus Christ Church (634 Gibbard Avenue, Columbus) on Friday, May 12.

Viewing will begin at 10am followed by the service at 11am.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
