George Robert Stewart Jr., was born February 2, 1957 in Williamson, West Virginia to George Robert Stewart Sr. and Gloria J. (Lee) Stewart. His was the 5th of 7 siblings. George departed this life on Monday March 23, 2020 at the age of 63.
The family moved to Columbus, Ohio in June of 1966, when George was 9 years old. He graduated from Central High School in 1976. George played football, basketball and ran track. After high school, he worked as a security guard for AT&T for many years. George enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of his favorite activities included playing cards and shooting pool. He also enjoyed bowling and had a form of his own, striking a pose after throwing the ball.
George’s personality was calm, cool and collected. When he called you on the phone you would say “Hello” and waiting for a response you would be ready to hang up before hearing a slow “Yo”! George was very respectful and displayed manners to elders by saying ma’am and sir. He was also known for giving everybody a nickname or two. George was the life of the party listening to his favorite artist Rick James and doing his favorite dance “the freak”. It was said that he was one of the last people to rock a Jheri curl until there was no more snapback and his hair just wouldn’t curl anymore.
George was in a committed relationship with his significant other of over 20 years, Theresa Moore. They provided love and companionship for one another. And she cared for him, meeting his daily needs, after he went through some medical issues.
George leaves a large and loving family to cherish his memory. he was preceded in death by his father, George Robert Stewart Sr. He is survived by his mother, Gloria Stewart; siblings, Charles “Eddy” Stewart, Larry (Doraliz) Stewart, Veronica (Sam) Grayson, Bruce (Ramona) Stewart, Ricky Stewart, Danny (Kim) Stewart; significant other, Theresa Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Sincere condolences to the Stewart family, may the sweet memories of George give you comfort during this most difficult time.
My love to the family at this time of sorrow. George was a nice person who was always happy to see you. George had a hard life for his last years but God always knows when we cannot take on more pain. He was a favorite nephew of mine. God has called him home to rest. To God be the glory for letting us know him and for him being in our lives. Rest dear one. We love you.
Thank you Uncle George for all of the laughs and good timesthroughout the years. Prayers to the family. We love you and miss Uncle George.May you continue resting in the arms of the Lord.
Cuz I love you and may you rest in peace my condolences to the family you guys are like brothers to me, if you knew George he gave you a nickname- see you soon “Catfish”.
Praying for blessings of peace for Aunt Gloria, Eddie, Larry, Bruce, Veronica, Ricky, Danny and all of George’s loved ones. I can still see him partnering with my cousin, David and running Bostons in Bid Whist. Now that was a hard team to beat! I will also miss my cousin George’s sense of humor. He was a very caring person. As I look up today, I know that God called him home to join our Aunt Gaynell in Heaven. I just hope that he does not call her Nell, as his nickname for her.
Until we meet again in the Pearly Gates…
Love,
Rhonda Tartt Stearns
