Geraldine “Geri” Henrietta Clanton was born to Thomas and Grace (Pinkney) Bondurant on May 24, 1939, in Bloomfield Indiana. Geri was sixth of the 16 children born to this union. Shortly after being born, her family moved to Columbus Ohio, making Ohio their permanent residence, where she grew up. Geri was a proud graduate of Columbus Central High School. Then continue her education to The Ohio State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s and Master’s in Social Work.

As a young woman she married Michael Clanton where their legacy was created. They had three loving children. Darrell, Darren, and Brent Clanton. Geri was a Loving and Caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children. Anyone who knew them knew that she was a star in their eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her.

Despite her large family, Geri always made time for everyone. She always provided support and love her family. That passion of service is where she landed her career of 38 years working for Franklin County Children Services. Where she later retried in the early 2000’s. She remained a devoted and faithful member Calvary Faith Mission church, where she was also an active board member for 17 years. She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as every member of her family.

Geri traveled extensively in the United States and loved cruises; she was a world renown yard sales specialist and loved to read any book she could get her hands on.

On August 4th, 2022, Geri Clanton went on to walk with the angels, she was 83 years old.
She is preceded in death by: Parents Grace (Pinkney) and Thomas Bondurant, brothers Ronald, Jonathan, and Leroy (Vivian), Paul (Elenora), Bondurant, sisters Roberta Bondurant, Kathy (Jake) Cohran, Patty (Charles) Harris, Judy Harper, and Barbara Bondurant.

Geri leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children, Darrell (Deena) Clanton, Darren Clanton, and Brent Clanton. She was a proud Grandmother to Brent (Shamain) Mack, Kala, Natasha, Desmon, Brandon, Keyanna, Clanton, and Aaron Mack. Great – Grandchildren Deylana Clanton and Keylan Howell, Ava and Arsema Mack, and Pierce Pittman and Desmond Clanton II, brothers David (Lydia), William Richard (Wanda), Rev. John Timothy (Leisia) Bondurant, sister-in-law Sherry Bondurant, sisters Carmen (Charles) Hill, Linda Turner and June Evelyn (Bishop Edward) Black, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation 1:00 PM and Memorial Service 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.

To the Clanton family: Be encouraged as you go through this difficult time of loss. Your mother, grandmother, Aunt, etc. was a kind and supportive social worker when I was a court appointed special advocate for several young children in the franklin County court system.
