Geraldine Haynes, age 64, born January 13, 1957 in Warren, Ohio.  She departed this life to be with the Lord after an extended illness, on Sunday, August 29, 2021. 

Growing up she attended Hoyt Street CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, where she was baptized & accepted the Lord at an early age. She was a very faithful, active, willing worker, participating in multiple ministries of the church including, choir member, usher board member, she assisted with organizing events for the youth, she was a leader, chaperone, and a wise counselor.

 

Geraldine was a 1976 graduate of Howland High School.  Because of her love for children, a God given gift, she was known as the Best childcare provider around town.  Although she didn’t have children of her own, she mothered and nurtured many, including her two youngest siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.  She had God children that she loved as her own.

 

Geraldine was very skilled in the kitchen and had a love for cooking baking.  She and sister/friend Karen mastered a recipe for cinnamon rolls, which became one of her many trademarks.  She often took orders to cook entire family meals for the holidays!  If you didn’t quite know how to make a dish, just call Geraldine (Tulu) she was known as the kitchen mechanic… she could fix any & everything!!

 

Geraldine worked as a volunteer at her sister’s bakery “The Purple Box Bakery”, she was a healthcare worker, day care provider, and worked in retail sales. After many dedicated years of employment as a merchandiser with The Limited Brand Company, she retired in March 2021.

 

She is preceded in death by her father Baltimore Elzie of Warren, OH and brother WIllie L. Simpson of Warren, OH and 2 half-brothers and 5 half-sisters of Warren, OH

 

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her mother Ida M. Wade-Simpson of Columbus, Ohio. Six brothers James Wade (Rita) of Henderson, NV; Lionel Simpson (Kathy) of Warren, OH; Dornail Simpson of Columbus, OH; Dennis Simpson (Gloria) of Warren, OH; Levi Elzie & Clifford Elzie both of Warren, OH; Nine sisters Sadie Williams of Blacklick, OH; Dorothy White (Roland) of Ocala, FL;

Marguerite Jenkins of Columbus, OH; Joanne Simpson of Columbus, OH; Mary Pitt (Alonzo) of Columbus, OH; Mildred Theresa Johnson (Mark) of Gilbert, AZ; Geneva Oliver, Odester Brown, Omega Wynn, all of Warren, OH. Several godchildren Shalisha May of Columbus, OH; Mickeya Harris of Warren, OH; Noelle Simpson of Columbus, OH; Dionnie Harris of Columbus, OH; Lucky of Columbus, OH; Trinese Summerlin-Thomas of Alexandria, VA; & a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, 870 St. Clair Ave. Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
