Gilbert E. Parnell, age 72 was born August 8, 1947 to James Douglas and Carrie Lee Parnell in Bessemer Alabama.

Gilbert was the most loving and compassionate person you could ever meet. Gilbert admired his brother Eddie James Parnell for joining the Navy which gave him dreams of wanting to join the Military. He joined the Military and served for 21 years and retired with honors. He was proud to be able to serve his country. Gilbert would help anyone in need.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; loving wife of 30+ years Velina Parnell, children Angela, Aresha, Tahesha, Myesha, Anthony, Sharod, and Simeon, and 21 grandchildren, also a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Monday, January 27, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment with Military Honors at Eastlawn Cemetery.
