Helen Jean Bryant 83 of Smyrna, Georgia passed away to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Helen was born on September 12,1938 in Yazoo city, Mississippi to the late Frank Jenkins and Ida Tolbert Jenkins.

Helen was married to the late Roscoe Bryant. They met, married and began a military life together. In 1968 the family settled in Mansfield, Ohio. Helen worked at White Westing House for 22 years where she retired.

Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, and baking. She loved to study her bible, watch her favorite preachers on Youtube, watch Family Feud and court TV.   Momma Helen, as she was affectionately referred to, never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Her ministry was to serve people wherever they were and build them up spiritually, mentally and emotionally.  Her infectious laughter and smile will be missed in this world.

Her life will continue to be celebrated by her children:  Cecilia Black of Dayton, Ohio, Tonya Williams of Warren, Ohio Saylor Bryant of Chicago, Illinois, and Sonjyia Bryant of Atlanta, Georgia.  Her sons Roscoe Lynell Bryant, (Althea Bragg) of Oakland, California, and Denno Bryant of Mansfield, Ohio. Grand Children: Kraig Black, Raven Allen, Gregory Williams Jr, Aric Williams, Donyell Bryant, Thomas Eutsey, Trayvon Pointer, Micaiah Hightower, Delores Fortson, Ralannah Bryant- Hardy, Roscoe Bryant III, and Ruel Bryant.  Helen had 22 great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Reverend Samuel A. Jenkins of Waco, Texas, Charlene Reese of Thousand Oaks California and Francine Small of Athens, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Bryant, son Gregory Williams Sr.  Parents Frank Jenkins and Ida Tolbert Jenkins. Siblings Thomas Jenkins, Ella Ruth Black, Dora Lee Caldwell, and Barbara Jenkins.

Visitation 10:00am and Memorial Service 11:00am Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Latter Rain COGIC, 259 Glessner Ave. Inurnment to follow at Mansfield Cemetery. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE MANSFIELD, 753 McPherson St (formerly Williams Funeral Services). Family has asked that anyone planning to attend the service please adhere to mask and social distancing mandates as defined by CDC.

Sonjyia, and Saylor, my condolences to you and your family. Mrs. Bryant was a beautiful lady inside & out, she was a sweet and kind WOG, who is loved by many and she will certainly be missed. Sonnie you know that I love you my dear friend, and as I told you yesterday evening I am here for you if you need me don’t hesitate to call. You and your family are in certainly in my thoughts and prayers, I will continue to send up prayers for comfort and strength during this very painful and sorrowful time, as well as the weeks and months ahead.

Sleep on Mrs. Helen, God has called you to take your rest now, you finished your race, and you ran it well, now your work is complete, and your legacy and memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew & loved, you, and the lives of those you touched along your life journey.

My sincere condolences to the family of Helen J.Bryant. I had the privilege to work with Helen at Westinghouse. My house burned and I lost all of children belongings and Helen came up my rescue. She was a beautiful Christian lady with a beautiful smile. I will always remember Helen and will keep the family in my prayers. May God bless you.

May the Lord look over the family because Mother Bryant was a true woman of God who sought to be an example to others. I thank God for her in the lives of my family and all that she blessed us with.
