Helen Ruth White, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt who departed this life in peace with family near…to be with the lord on Wednesday January 5, 2022 @ 12:24am.

Helen white was born July 20, 1944 in Columbus, Mississippi. She was one of 14 siblings.

Helen is preceded in death by her mother, Ollie Chatman; father, Frank McCrary; common-law companion, Alvin Freeman; brothers, Sidney, Lindsey, Lonzo, Freddie, and Charles McCrary; and sister, Bessie Latham.

Shortly after Helen gained her wings, her son, Avery White, joined her in Heaven.

Helen leaves to cherish her memories, sisters, Ruth Jones, Ollie McCrary, Annie Monroe, and Linda McCrary; sons William “Bill” (Nicole) White; daughter in law, Tammy; grandchildren, Desmond A. White, Jalinda T. White, Devaughn D. White, Deja L. White, Laya S. Speer, Niyah Banner, Elgin A. White; and a host of greatgrandchildren, loving nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Helen was a unique woman, who enjoyed family and fellowship, she was strong, and enjoyed collecting dolls, doing puzzles, knitting or crochet. She had her own unique voice, and you knew when she was in the room. She also loved jazz. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She battled with cancer early on, but it returned, and she lost the battle but was in no pain and at peace.

Visitation 9:00am and Funeral 10:00am Saturday, January 15, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
