Herbert L. Ransom

Herbert L. Ransom was born August 17, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio.

He joined the United States Marine Corp and fought in the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge and received the purple heart.

After his service he returned home and married the love of his life Beverly Ransom. Together they raised two beautiful children Shawna Ransom and Christopher Ransom and an abundance of foster children.

Herbert was an employee of General Motors for many years. He loved his family and his community. Herbert was well known and loved by many. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

He had a heart of gold and would offer wisdom, support, and a helping hand to anyone in need. Family was the most important in his life.

He was called home Monday January 24, 2022, at the age of 81.

Herbert is proceeded in death by his mother Lura Ransom, father Benjamin Reed, love of his life Beverly Ransom, sister Jennie Alfred, and brother Percy Ransom.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Shawna Ransom, son Christopher Ransom (Rachel), daughter Joyce Carter, son Edward Barnes, grandchildren Kiara Ransom, Zier Robinson, Christopher Ransom Jr., Paul Robinson III., Zion Robinson. Great grandchildren Ali Watson and XI Douglas Waston and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

 

 

 

 

Visitation 1:00 PM and Private Memorial Service 2:00 PM Saturday, February 12, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).
