At the tender age of 18 months his mother passed away and he went to live with the Triplett family of Library, Pa.; close friends of his parents and respected people of the community. His primary care givers were Sarah and Naomi Triplett. Although the Triplett family treated Howard like family, he returned to his father’s home to live with his father, brothers, and Step Mother, Mary.

Howard attended Livingston, Lincoln, Arsenal, and Watt Street Elementary schools; Herron Hill Jr. High, and although he did not graduate from Schenley High School; he did complete the tenth grade. When that proved not to be his calling he joined the United States Army where he served as a cook and an officer for the Military Police. 1973, after returning to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Howard married Linda Joyce (Williamson Thomas) uniting them and Linda’s son, Robert. From that union they had a daughter named NaomiKay.

In 1983, Howard returned to Pittsburg, and was employed by L & K Restaurant as a cook; later moving to Ohio to work with The Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy as a cook, then as a truck driver; After 17 years he retired.

Since 1986 Howard was an active member of the Retired Armed Forces Association (RAFA). He has served in the following RAFA Offices; Branch President, State President, National President, and 2nd Vice National President.

Howard was the proud father of ten children, 22 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Dear Family,

I was deeply saddened to learn that my brother-in-law has transcended this life. He was a good man and clearly an outstanding patriot. He was loved and appreciated for his strength, wisdom and the example he set as a man so much in love with life. My thoughts, love and prayers go out to all that have been touched by this man’s life.
