Jack Johnson Sr.

Jack Johnson Photo 2

Jack was the 5th of 10 children born to the late Leo Johnson Sr., and beloved Mother Sofronia (Tyler) Johnson. He was a True Jack of all Trades. He had a passion for cooking, cleaning, landscaping and mechanical work. One who would always say, “I’m clean as a whistle but never afraid to put my hands in the dirt.” Might I add, people would be wrapped around the building, waiting for good ole Jacks cooking! And anything he makes, please believe to go with it there’ll be some pinto beans and cornbread!!

Growing up at age seven, Jack was told, “You’re now the man of the house.” So, from that moment on, he showed himself to be A man among Men. Caring for his younger brothers and sisters as if they were his own. While also prepared to step in at any time to help and defend his older siblings whenever they may have need.

Jack carried this love for family into his adult life and would create a legacy of his own. He was a great husband of 38 years to the late Lois A. Johnson. While together raising 8 kids and 27 grandkids. Jack was a stand up type of guy! Who taught his family to always put God first, and to leave their worries behind. He was respectful, giving, loving and caring. No matter the want, no matter the need. Anyone could depend on Jack. Oh yes indeed! Inspiring to all and will never be forgotten.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Johnson Sr., and beloved Mother Sofronia (Tyler) Johnson. His beloved wife, Dear, Lois A. Johnson. His beloved sisters, DelRita Cohen, Frankie Byrd, Bonnie Williams, and Eassie Mae Walker. His Brothers, Hockless (Cheetah) Johnson, Leon Johnson, Henry (Skip) Johnson, Johnnie Johnson, Leo Johnson Jr.

Jack leaves behind to share his memories; His daughters, Babygirl Anna M. Johnson, Danyalle Johnson, Christine Carpenter, Jaqueline Pruitt. His sons, Gabriel Johnson, Timothy (Rhoda) Johnson, Immanuel (Cynthia) Johnson, Jack Johnson, Jr., James (Dashea) Ramsey. Twenty-Seven grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
