James E. Brown Jr. was born February 19, 1949 to James and Alice Othello Brown Banks.

He graduated from East High School and worked at The Local 423. James E. Brown Jr. made the decision to serve his country and joined the army. James met Merry E. Brown and they were married for 37 years. They were blessed with two sons James Brown III and Larry Brown.

James joined New Tabernacle Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Bishop Ronald E. Davis Sr., where he served as an ordained deacon for over 23 years. In 2015 he became Chairman of the Deacon Board, and served as a vice-chair of the Trustee Board. Deacon James Brown was faithful to his post and served with dignity and honor.

He is preceded in death by parents James and Alice Brown Banks, loving wife Merry E. Brown, sisters Arlene Banks, Darlene Banks, Aurelia Banks Dear, Anita Y, Banks-Dudley, nephews Craig and Brian Banks.

He leaves to celebrate his legacy and treasure his memory; sons James E. Brown III. and Larry Jerome Brown, sisters Doris J. (Isaiah) Webster, Joyce Denise (Kevin) Brewer, Linda Banks, Lois Walker, Annette Brooks, and Alice Blackwell, sister in laws Emma (Leonard) Wright, Debra (Cliff) Foster from Brunswick, GA. and Pat Smith from Columbus, Ohio, also a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Friday, August 30, 2019 at New Tabernacle, 1548 Wentworth Road.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park
