James Earl Hagans, age 72 Sunrise October 18, 1945 in Hazard, Kentucky and Sunset February 1, 2018, in Columbus, Ohio.

James attended Central High school. After high school he joined the workforce where he worked many jobs. He worked at Capital Drywall Supply for 20 years.
He retired to begin an entrepreneurial journey of owning and driving dump trucks. On the CB his handle was “Big Daddy”!! James later decided to join corporate again where he would work for 17 years at Forrest Trucking.

James Aka Earl, loved fishing, bowling, motorcycle’s, horses, grilling, frying fish, and gardening. He took pride in cutting his grass with his grandson James.
James Earl Aka “Honey” was a family man, protector and provider. He enjoyed spending time with his loving wife of 44 years traveling and going to the casinos. James Earl was a proud father of 6 children and 2 grandchildren. He loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Stanton Hagans and Sally and James Niece; sister, Sebretta Hagans and brother Willie Kidd. He leaves to cherish in his memory, wife Linellan Hagans; children, Maurice Hagans, James Hagans Jr., Frederick (Carletta) Hagans, Treva Hagans-Bajjou, Jason (Shantelle Barnett) Hagans and Makia “Mimi” (Stephen Jackson ) Hagan; brothers, Harry (Eve) Hagans, Napoleon (Deloris) Hagans, Robert (Cassandra) Niece, Mark Niece, Douglas (Melissa) Niece, and Raymond Adams; sister Lois Adams; former spouse, Shirley Hagans; grandchildren, Gerald Watkins, James Hall, Marquis Bassett and Brooklyn Bassett; special friend Oliver Lewis, and a host of nieces , nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

James was truly one of a kind. A man who was loved by many. James will be missed by all who had the pleasure of loving and knowing him.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00 noon Wednesday February 7, 2018 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST 5456 E. Livingston Ave.

Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.

  8. Dear Hagens family. I am so sorry to have read of the death of James. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4.
