James Roosevelt Griffith was born to the union of Harry and Melvina Griffith in Turkey Knob, WV. After Graduating from High School, he made the decision to join the United States Marine Corp. He served his country proudly in the state of Hawaii. James was honorably discharged, earning the title of US Marine Veteran.

One of the most joyful times in his life was the birth of his two son’s Elliott and Jeffery Griffith.

James moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he lived for 50 plus years; was best known as a 4 Star Chef.

James relocated to Columbus Ohio in 2014 and has been embraced not only by his biological family but also his New Covenant Believers Church family who has always embraced him with much love and a strong Brotherhood.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Melvina Griffith; brother, Lawerence (Mafee) Griffith; sisters, Mary (Arthur) Ayers, Lillian (Joshua) Newson, Dorothy (Paul) Austin, and Violet (Larry) Wilson; wife, Laverne Griffith; and son, Elliott (Edith) Griffith

Memories are cherished by his sister, Margaret (Matthew) Jackson; son, Jeffery (Phyllis); a host of grandchildren; four generations of nieces, nephews and cousins and a multitude of friends.

We would like to extend a special thanks to all of the many “Angels” God sent to enrich James R. Griffith’s LIFE.
