James “Butch” Leigh, Jr., was born to James and Lillie Leigh on April 14, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio. He was the second oldest of six children.

He attended Columbus City Schools and graduated from East High School, and he was an accomplished athlete. He served in the United States Military as a Marine was discharged from the Military with Honors. He retired from Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC).

James married his wife Denise on August 30, 2007. They rededicated their lives to God at New Birth Christian Ministries April 2008. They were the first married couple that Pastor Kenneth Moore baptized.

James loved his family and cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved to talk (just like his Dad) and he loved to play cards and traveling with his wife Denise.  He also loved sports, traveling and road trips.

In addition to his father, James Leigh, Sr., he was predeceased by one sister, Bonnie Leigh, one brother, Mark Leigh and sister-in-law, Donetta Favours.

James left this life on the night of October 28, 2021. He leaves to cherish his lovely and beautiful wife, Denise Favours-Leigh of fourteen years. His mother, Lillie Leigh, sisters Brenda (Ronnie) Young, Beverly Leigh and brother Michael (Stephanie) Leigh. children; Michael (Chastiddy) Dennis, Sr., Lamont Leigh Sr., and Simone Leigh, grandchildren: Michael Dennis, Jr., Lamont Leigh, Jr., Sydni, and Sage Leigh, Lamondria, Elijah, Jerica, and Ava Leigh.  brother in Laws, Wilbour Favours, Craig Favours, Michael Favours, Shane Favours and Daylan Favours, sister in Laws Sarah Favours, Arizonia Favours and Sharmell Favours and a host of nieces, nephews and six great-grandchildren. Special Friends: Craig Favours, Allen “Bubble T” Taylor, James “Too Sweet” Roy, Pastor Donald Miller, Our loving friend and neighbor Mrs. Freda White Special cousins: Robert Eubanks, Sr., and Chester Jackson.

 

 

 

 

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral Service 11:00am Friday, November 12, 2021 at New Birth Christian Ministries, 3475 Refugee Rd. Interment at Union Cemetery Association. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.
