James P. Talley, Jr

In Memorial

It was February 24, 1940 when Mr. and Mrs. James Pearson Talley, Sr. (now deceased) became proud parents of their only child, James Pearson Talley, Jr. Talley attended school in the Montgomery, Alabama area. He then left Alabama with his parents and moved to Chicago, Illinois where he finished his education. He left Chicago and moved to Columbus, worked and retired from The Ohio State University after 22 years of service.

James loved his family dearly. He enjoyed traveling on the open road, no place was too far to get to his family. The fourth weekend of every July was his Christmas, it was the family reunion. The family reunion didn’t start until “Pep” arrived. He enjoyed listening to blues, fishing and playing his favorite song, Down Home Blues. You see the hats turned backward? He started that fad because he loved to be fresh and clean. He was soooo cool. He would give all the ladies special names, especially China Doll. Talley was so special to so many. My Talley never met a stranger.

James is proceeded in his death by his parents, two daughters, three grandsons, and a great-grandson

James leaves to cherish his memory is his loving and dedicated wife for 20 years, Marilyn;, five sons, Michael, Pearson, Royal (Vanessa), Marico, and Monty Talley; three daughters, Vernita, Myretta Talley-Drane and Tondelea Talley; 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; In-laws, Lois (Clarence) Glover, Joyce (Terry) Townes, and Billy Drew; special uncle, Lendyburgh (Vicky) Talley; special cousins, Henry Talley, Raymond Talley, Juanita Hawes, Joyce Russell, Pat Brooks, and Talley Brooks; Goddaughter, Charlene Hawes, Godson, Athel Perkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
