James Otis Price at the age of 88 went to be with the Lord August 24, 2021. James was born in Price, Ridgeway Virginia September 16, 1932. James will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend.

He retired from Grossman & Sons to later work for the state as a home provider for 2 children with mental and physical disabilities for 32 years. Their home would later be awarded a seal and gold star from the state of Ohio for their dedication and honorable service to the health, welfare, and advocacy of children with mental and physical disability.

He was a faithful member of New Birth Christian Ministries for over 10 years.  He loved to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes with family, fishing, and gardening. His passion for gardening was fostered through his personal garden for over 30 years. Over the years, harvesting vegetables for family and friends such as green beans, squash, collards, tomatoes, peppers, and onions.

In his later years, after a second retirement in 2011 he would serve New Birth with his wife (Lula Price) in the Senior Ministry, being a part of things such as the senior prom, and mission work serving the elderly in the NBCM community.

James was famously known for things he would cook over the years. He was committed to 6 AM prayer with his wife every morning, interceding for every family member he loved and cherished. He was kind, a man of great resilience and hard work.

James is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lula Price; loving daughters, Renee Lamar [Robert Lamar (deceased)], Deborah Austin (David Austin), and Tamala Thomas (Frank Thomas); loving sons, Stephen Price and Timothy Price (Stephanie Price); 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie B. and Elizabeth Price; Sister, Mary Zeigler; Brother Jessie W. Price; loving sons, Larry Price (Valerie Price), Kevin Price; daughter, Annette Price.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Monday, August 30, 2021 at New Birth Christian Ministries, 3475 Refugee Rd 43232. Interment at Ohio Cremation Services. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.
