Janie Beatrice Porter was born May 31, 1931 in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Torrence and Corene Myers. She was the eldest of 11 siblings. Sisters: Dorothy Mosby, Lillie Townsend, Christina Elliott (deceased), Jacqueline Myers, Kathy Myers. Brothers: Rev. Jimmy (Hazel) Myers, Torrence Myers Jr., Rev. Marshall (Diane) Myers, Rev. Ronald (Earnestine) Myers, Lawrence (Taquela) Myers. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with New Bethel Full Gospel Church where she had a special love for her Pastor, Rev. Melvin Rodgers and church family. She was an active member of the Mothers Board. She received a degree in applied science and early childhood education. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Booker Terriell Porter, Sr. To this union 9 children were born.

Janie will be forever missed by all those who had the privilege of know her. She will be especially missed by those who had not only the pleasure of loving her; but being loved by her.

Visitation 11am and Funeral 12pm Saturday July 9, 2016 at New Bethel Full Gospel Church, 2225 Ball Road, Memphis, TN. Interment at Forest Hill National Cemetery.

      Thank you for the kind words. Today July 1st 2018 marks your two of my mother’s transition from this life to eternal life. Her love is forever etched in my heart and my soul.
