Jean Carol Sims, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2023. She was born on March 17, 1941 to Dorothy and Henry Harrison Hamilton Sr. in Painesville, Ohio.

Jean attended Thomas W. Harvey High School. She was married and divorced at an young age. It was at that time that her life in Columbus, Ohio began.

At the age of 26, Jean was working a full-time job, while raising her four children and living on her own.

As a young woman, Jean gave her life to the Lord, was water-baptized, and filled with the Holy Spirit. She was a member of Rehoboth Temple Church of Christ prior to becoming a member of Full Gospel Assembly/Where Eagles Gather Ministries. Ultimately, she became a pivotal example for her family of a woman living a faith-filled life. Jean later became a member of Cornerstone Fellowship currently known as The Meeting Point Church. She was a student of the Word of God and a worshipper who loved to sing the praises of the Lord.

Jean worked for nearly 20 years at Wonder Bread Bakery. The long hours and hard labor caused her to make a career change to become a nursing assistant. She became employed at Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber where she retired.

Family was the center of her life and the basis of her joy. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and mother-in-law, her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers; Henry Jr., Bobby, Leroy, Melvin, Donald, Phillip and Michael Hamilton.

Jean leaves to cherish her memory, daughters; Robin (Eric) Thompson, Jacqueline (Marvin) Baylor, sons; Vaughn Sims and Darryn Sims, grandchildren; Morice Sims, Eric (Christina) Thompson Jr., Amber Baylor, Steffan Baylor, Latrice Thompson, Marquise Dent, Trinity Sims, Alyssa Sims, and Audree Sims; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Minnette Marsh and LaJune Lyons; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
