Mr. Jerry Donnell Moton, 71, passed away on February 1, 2022 after an extended illness.
Jerry was born on April 12, 1950 in Caples, WV to Mr. Bert and Willie Moton. Jerry was a 1968 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. He was employed at AK Steel and Pepsi Cola Co. and a member of The Oasis of Love Church. Jerry loved to bowl, play pool, fish and tell stories.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, and siblings Joe Holley, Dorothy Hobbs, Julia Faye Danzy and Carmilla Moton.
Jerry is survived by his children, Joseph (Latasha) Reed, Anthony (Jessica) Reed, Glorian Hughes, Jeryll (Reginald) Purnell and Jerry (Chasity) Moton Jr.; siblings, Shirley Ann Holley, Pastor Martina (William) Goines, Elder Ronald (Ardelphia) Moton Sr, Gerald Raymond Moton, Bert Leon Moton Sr. and Antonio Moton; special niece and caregiver Katrina Hobbs; 21 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday, February 11, 2022 from at The Oasis of Love 190 Chester Ave. Mask and Social Distancing are required. Interment at Mansfield Cemetery. A son of our great general and his queen (Master Bert Moton, Sr. and Mrs. Willie Moton) has passed from this world. We will always remember Master Jerry D. Moton, Sr., the man, our cousin, for the beautiful person he was to us. He was kind, fun-loving, sincere and gracious, with unconditional love for his family. We will alway cherish our memories with him and love him too. We are thankful that, as a child of God, Jerry is now a prince in the Kingdom of God, the King of kings. We send much love and pray for comfort to all in our beautiful family.
