Jessie Marie Dawkins, age 78, received her heavenly wings on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 26, 1941, to the proud parents of James and Elizabeth Payne.

Jessie (affectionately known as Sissy) was a very compassionate, caring, and virtuous woman of God! She truly loved the Lord! As a matriarch of her family, she was the go to person for those around her and selflessly provided love that knew no limits. Jessie’s contagious laugh and pure heart brought joy to any room. She never met a stranger that didn’t adore her. She was also known for her boundless support to others and without hesitation she would provide a helping hand, often opening her home to take in mothers whenever they were in need.

As a dedicated mother of six, she not only understood what it meant to sacrifice, but also what it meant to love each of her children unconditionally. The eternal love that she instilled in each person’s life that she touched, is a seed that will continue to grow and allow her memory to prosper within our hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James and Elizabeth Payne; Grandparents: Claude and Irene Whitney.

She leaves to cherish her memory, loving children: John Dawkins, Cheryl Dawkins, Kimberly (Ernie) Daniels, Scott Dawkins, Carla Dawkins and Tonya Lane; dedicated siblings: James (Kathryn) Payne, Carol Hogan, Marsha Coffey, and Leslie Payne; 12 precious grandchildren: Tony, Tiszonia, Terrance, Angelica, Cliffone, Marce’, Chantel, Jasmine, Kierra, Asante, Anjoli, Jordan and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; cousins; in-laws and special friends Brenda Smith Dunlop and Mitzi Patterson.

The world has truly lost a special gem, but heaven has gained a beautiful angel to continue to watch over and protect her loved ones!!
