The Journey of Jessie L. Woodard Sr., began May 15, 1937, in Ward, Alabama to the Benjamin and Annie Mae Woodard. He was one of fourteen children.

Jessie gave his life to Christ at an early age. He married the late Essie J. Woodard and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1956. Jessie had one daughter, Annie (Sillis) Rumbley of Mississippi. To his union with Essie five children were born, Ricky (Arjenia), Jessie Jr (Melanie), Lawrence, Roland and Willis; seven grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

After moving to Columbus, Jessie joined The Love Zion Baptist Church under Reverend M.B. Myers Sr.,  Jessie was employed with Nationwide Insurance Companies for over 20 years, as well as 20 years with Ohio Mallable.

Jessie was a quiet, soft-spoken man. He loved the Blue’s Music and loved playing the guitar.

He will be missed by those he loved and those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
