Joan C Rodney-Sampson, 76 years of glory, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on June 10th, 2022. Joan was born on October 24th, 1945, to John and May Rodney in Georgetown, Guyana, South America. Joan has been living in the USA
since 1978 making home in Columbus, Ohio. Joan worked at several department stores over the years including Lazarus and Schottenstein’s.
She loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, gardening, playing bingo, listening to music and eating foods that reminded her of the Caribbean influenced
culture she grew up with. She loved volunteering with her siblings and many friends at the various Columbus Festivals downtown with Parks
and Recreation.

Joan was a loveable person, always with a smile. You would never know when she was depressed, sad or angry. After losing her leg, she was still
a very jovial person. Even with the loss of her twin brother in April, she hid the depth of her pain from everyone. The moment you met her you
would instantly become family calling her “Auntie Joanie” or just “Mom”. Joan touched a lot of people hearts in her lifetime she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and May Rodney, siblings; Sheila Loper, Lynette Welchman, her twin brother John Rodney
and her grandson Calvin Rodney.

Joan is survived by her husband Victor Sampson, her children Roger and Carlotta Rodney, Grandchildren Rianna and Jasmine Rodney, Nephew Conrad Heliger all out of Guyana. Grandchildren Roger Rodney Jr, Renee Waits, Carlos Rodney, Niece Sharon Chance of USA. Along with her special friend Kevin McBeth, lots of great grandchildren, great niece and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, several cousins and extended family members that called her mom and an enormous number of friends.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Joan and I worked together for nearly ten years at The Limited in the 1990’s. I was fresh out of high school and she took me under her wing and taught me a lot. We had so many laughs and good times together. Joan was a good person and will be missed tremendously. I offer my condolences to Joan’s family and friends. RIH Miss Joan.
