Joe Louis Moorehead, Sr. was born to Helen Cook and James Moorehead, Sr on November 19, 1935, in Gary, West Virginia. The family later moved to Columbus, Ohio, and Joe was educated in the Columbus Public School system.

Years later, Joe met and married his wife of 54 years, Ann Westmoreland. He also joined Trinity Baptist
Church, and enjoyed fellowshipping with the church.

Joe worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co., and retired from Sears after more than 25 years of employment
when their logistics operations moved from Columbus. Joe then went to work for Whirlpool logistics, and
he later became employed with Tri-Star School Transportation. Joe had the responsibility of driving school children with special needs. This was something Joe enjoyed doing, and he loved the children, and the children and their families loved him.

Joe loved playing and watching sports. He played in a basketball league and loved fishing. He became an
avid golfer and played in the Sears golf league for many years. He also spent many days on the golf
course with his buddies, Leon, Les, and Mike. On the weekends you could often find him watching football, basketball, or golf. When he wasn’t watching sports, he liked to watch old black and white
westerns, and everyday you could find him sitting in his favorite chair reading the newspaper.

Joe also loved to travel. Every summer he would gas up the car, load up the snacks and head out in a
new direction such as Florida, New England, Canada, and even all the way to California and Mexico. He
also took many cruises, and one of his favorite parts of the cruise was dressing up in a tuxedo for the
Captain’s Dinner.

Joe was called to eternal rest on Friday, October 21, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father James
Moorehead Sr., stepfather Sam Greenway, mother Helen Greenway, and brother James Moorehead, Jr.

He will be lovingly remembered by wife, Ann, children Debra J. Moorehead, Joe L. Moorehead, Jr., and
Sherry (Chad) Robinson, brothers Robert Moorehead and John (Ollie) Greenway, Sr., grandchildren Kelly
(Ashley) Smith, Geoffrey Moorehead, Keisha Moorehead, and Ava Robinson, great grandchildren Kelly
Smith, Jamel Smith, Jalen Smith, Jasmine Smith, Omari Edwards, Olivia Moorehead, Karis Seals, Gavin
Moorehead, sister-in-law Jean Neighbarger, brother-in-law Cleve Westmoreland, Jr., a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends, and “fur baby” dog, Mindy.

Ann, we were saddened to learn of Joe’s departure, and we extend our love and condolences to you, Sherry, Debbie, Joe, Jr., and the entire Moorehead and Greenway families. As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, loved one, and friend, we know that Joe truly will be missed. However, it is comforting to know that when we love someone, they will live forever in our hearts, spirit, and memories. While in this season of grief, we offer you comfort in Revelation 21:4, “and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” Always know that God’s promises are true. Embrace Him, for He is with you, and will give you the strength to stand. (2Timothy 4:17)

We are keeping you close in our hearts and prayers.

To Joe, Deborah, Sherry, Lady Ann, and the rest of our family
whom this transition has touched. We are sorry we cannot be with you all in person due to our illness, but know we love you all and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all in this difficult time.

The pain is deep, it will be around for awhile, but through prayers, tears, and the help of the Lord, you all will be alright, I won’t say I know how you feel because death does each one different, but I do know that the Lord will give you peace in the midst of your storm.

Be strong as you can, cry, scream if you have too, we understand, we will get with you in person at a later time after we recover from our situation.

Much love, peace to you all,

Uncle Eddie and Aunt Rose Marie…
