Joe O’Neal Cummings Sr, 71, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at his home in Columbus, Ohio. Joe was born May 9, 1948 to Luther Lawrence Turner and the late Betty Jean Price in Tupelo, Mississippi. He attended Guntown Lowe School.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Jean Price; brother Billie Cummings: sister Kathy Spears, and stepmother Viola Turner.
Joe leaves to cherish precious memories: Devora loving wife of 34 years, children Joe O. Cummings Jr., Amy (Willie)Bridges, Ramon (Elixanne) Lawson, Jason Cummings, James Cummings, Jamie Cummings, Father Luther L. Turner, siblings Lawrence (Rose)McGee, Ruby Ruff, Lois(Mack) Macklin, Dwenia Turner, Rodney Turner and 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 godchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Joe is a veteran of the US Army where he served for 20 years as a Sargent and he earned several metals. Joe was employed with the American Red Cross as a mobile unit tech and Phlebotomist where he retired after 26 years. He was also a member of the American Legion. Joe was known for grilling, camping and traveling. He was a longtime member of Lincoln Park Community Baptist Church where is served as a deacon, trustee and mentor of the men’s ministry.

Joe was an upbeat go-getter, always supporting his team and the greater good. I will remember him fondly for his humor and genuine care for those who relied on him. Wishing his family peace and comfort, Joe was a great man.
