Joe Louis Whitfield Jr. was born July 6, 1956 to Shardine Jane and Joe Louis Whitfield Sr. Joe was the eldest of their five children and departed this point in eternity, September 17, 2018.

Joe attended Linden McKinley High School, leaving for a brief stint in the U.S. Army. He eventually earned his G.E.D and worked during his life as a cook, factory laborer, and taxi driver. Employers included Brookside Country Club, Rockwell International and the Yellow Cab Company.

Joe’s life-long pursuits included being a fan of the Cleveland Browns, going fishing and golfing. He claimed to be the “Tiger” of WII golf, as attested to by “special friends” Erv Gunter and Horace “ace” Gunter. Joe’s life was marked by another special friend, the late Raymond Johnson

He leaves for comfort in prayer, wife Lori Smith, son Joe Louis Whitfield III, daughters Ashley and Jasmine, mothers of his children Anita Webb and Nicole (Eric) Wolford, granddaughter Charlotte Whitfield, sibling Shonda L. Whitfield, Michael G. (Vickie) Whitfield Sr., Mark A. (Dee) Whitfield, and Jerneen L. Whitfield-Oldham, husband Maurice Oldham, father Joe Louis (Anne) Whitfield Sr. survives. Mother Shardine Jane Whitfield is still dearly missed (2012) by her children and grand-children. Oh, that she had been known by all her great grandchildren.

Thank you, Lord for your comfort in this time of grief. Order now, our steps too toward eternal rest.

Dear family we are sorry to hear about your loss death is difficult for family and friends; however, the Bible holds out hope for our deceased love ones found in the Bible book of John chapter 5 and verses 28 and 29. Why not read these scriptures in your personal copy of the Bible.

Dear Cousins, I am so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. I didn’t have older brothers so I depended on my cousins for mentorship. Joe was ten years older than me and I looked up to him. I am also sorry that I couldn’t be there.
