John C. Rodney, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectantly, but peacefully on April 2, 2022.

John was born on October 24, 1945, to John and May Rodney in Georgetown, Guyana, South America. John was a resident of the United States since 1978.

John had a love for anything The Ohio State Buckeyes, NASCAR, tennis, golf, and bowling. John was a hard worker, resilient and determined to accomplish any task he laid his hands on. He enjoyed volunteering with his sisters at the various Columbus festivals as a Parks and Recreation Volunteer. John was a lover of cars and prided himself in his career as a mechanic.

Although a private person, John was outgoing, personable and had an infectious smile and Guyanese accent that would put anyone at ease. Even when ill, John was never angry, sad, or depressed. He continued to do the things he loved, which included working at Krieger Ford, spending time with family and friends, and taking care of his lawn.

John is survived by his son, Conrad Heyliger of Guyana; his twin sister, Joan Sampson; his granddaughter, Katrine Cuma (Julien); his nieces, Sharon Chance (his Caregiver) and Carlotta Rodney, his nephew, Roger Rodney; his great-niece, Sharlene Chance (his Caregiver); great grandson, a host of other great and great-great nieces and nephews, extended family, and an abundance of friends, to include his special friend, Donna Walker. John has touched many throughout his life. He will be missed more than words can say.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and May Rodney and his sisters, Sheila Loper and Lynette Welchman.

Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Service 10:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).
