Josephine “Jo” Dorsey passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2020 in Columbus, OH at the age of 76.

Josephine was born on January 5, 1944 in Newton, GA. She later moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she graduated with honors from Dillard High School in 1962. Josephine and Willie Lee Dorsey Jr. married in 1969 and resided in Columbus, OH where Josephine was employed with Columbus Auto Parts, T. Marzetti, and then L Brands, where she retired.

“Josie” loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter Justice, who will miss their frequent girl’s nights. Her other hobbies included gardening, bowling, watching sports, specifically OSU football and LeBron James (or as she called him “Luh-Burn”). She especially enjoyed Southern cooking, and her specialties were her famous sweet potato pies, spicy BBQ sauce, savory collard greens and tomatoes and peppers she canned herself.

Josephine is preceded in death by her mother, Annie Mae Parker; daughter, Karla Dorsey; and sisters, Gloria Jean Spencer and Diania Marie Parker.

Josephine is survived by her daughter, Shenice (Anthony) Palmer; grandchildren, Devin Palmer (Tareya) and Karlesha Palmer; great granddaughter, Justice Palmer, all of Columbus, OH; siblings, Annette Crumbley of Columbus, OH; Major Parker II of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Judy (Hollie) Boyd of Indianapolis, IN; Bernice Parker of Ft. Lauderdale FL, Andrew Parker Sr. of Houston, TX, and Elder Debra (Russell) Ringo of Vernon, CT; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many close friends.

May her memory be a blessing to all those who loved her. She will be missed, always.

Private Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Monday, September 28, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Masks and Social Distancing are required.

Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
