On the afternoonof Tuesday, November 28, 2017, Joyce Aileen Smith passed away quietly and peacefully at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Joyce was 60 years of age.

Joyce attended Linden McKinley High School, and Columbus State Community College where she pursued a degree in Healthcare. She had a passion for taking care of others and learning about health.  She eventually obtained a certification in nursing, and went on to open her own business in healthcare. Joyce also worked at the Ohio State University and Grant Hospital.

Joyce (Peaches) was loved by many. She was the oldest grandchild, great grandchild and niece, and was the“highlight” of her family while growing up. Joyce had an amazing sense of humor and a laugh that was contagious; she knew no strangers. She loved to shop, in fact, some may have called her, “high maintenance” because of her expensive taste …in everything!  Joyce loved her children and grandchildren, and had a longing for them to be the very best that they could be, and a hope for their salvation that was shared with her by Bishop Kenneth Bligen, “When you change your life, God will save your children”.  She will leave a legacy of Godly wisdom, compassion for others, and an assurance in knowing that God can and He will.

Joyce was baptized and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost at Rehoboth Temple Church of Christ in Columbus, Ohio. She loved the Lord, and was always excited to learn of Him through His Word. The Lord truly blessed her with wisdom and revelation that she shared with many.  While serving at Rehoboth, Joyce was a member of the Mass Choir, she helped with the Youth Ministry, and was ordained into the Nurses Ministry.

To the family of Joyce, you have my condolences in your loss. Death is one of the most difficult situations families must face. It hurts so much when the family circle has been broken but be assured that it is only temporary. By means of God’s Kingdom, He promises at Revelation 21:4, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.

Condolence from Maria Ford on December 31st, 2022 9:00 am

My son attended church with a woman, and he would spend a great amount of time over her house. I never knew until later that it was the same woman I’ve known throughout the years. My son died shortly afterwards. I’m glad she was there. I wrote a comment sometime ago but I needed to clarify it. He was just a kid, and I’m thankful that she was there for him. Maria Ford, Andrew J Ittayem’s ( Drew Ford) mommy.
I also knew her from Rehoboth Temple.
She was a very kind person.
