Joyce Ann Taylor was born on March 9, 1948 and departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

Joyce Ann Taylor is predeceased by her parents John and Eloise Virginia Harris.  Sister, Willa Mae Haskins; Sister-in-law Barbara Jean Hudson, Brother-in-laws William Taylor, Harold Taylor, Hayward Taylor and Valentine Gwinn.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Marvin Taylor; Daughters Mechelle Harris and Brittni Taylor; Son Shaun Taylor; 5 Grandchildren Marcus (Ciara) Lumpkin II aka Nephew, Trinity, Maddison and Shaun Taylor Jr. and 2 Great Grandchildren Aniyah and Melody.  Sisters Brenda Chester and Darlene Sanford; Sister-in-laws Bonita Nuby, Sylvia Taylor, Delores Taylor, Mary Welch and Anita Taylor; Brother-in-laws Albert Taylor and James Taylor Jr; God-daughter Imani Brandon; Special cousin Robin Jacob who Joyce affectionately called Beanie and Robin called her Bunny and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Joyce was a former employee of The Carousel Inn, Alzheimer’s Association, LifeCare Alliance and longtime employee of Children’s Hospital where she retired after 19 years as a Dietician Specialist.  She was a high school graduate of East High School and later graduated from Columbus State University with a degree in Gerontology.

At a young age, Joyce became a member of The Union Tabernacle of God where she was a member of the Youth Choir and served on the Usher Board.  She was a member of The Bells of Victory and The Sensational Disciples formerly known as the Spiritual Travelers.

Joyce loved her family and was always known to load up her children, nieces and nephews in her van and take them to places like COSI, Ice Skating, parks and many other places.

Joyce was always smiling and encouraging everyone to be their best.  She always greeted her loved ones with a smile, hug and kiss.  She was always texting checking in on family and friends and saying she miss and love you.  She had an affectionate personality that affected so many who knew her.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Union Tabernacle of God, 1345 Atcheson Street. Mask and Social Distancing are required. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

  6. When I heard the news, I was floored. Mr. & Mrs. Taylor are my favorite customers. When they stopped by the lot, I loved visiting with them. She and I always had a funny exchange of words and Mr. Taylor would just role his eyes. She and I could really laugh and we did.
    May our Lord wrap his arms around all of you at this time…hold Mr. Taylor close.
    Heaven is wonderful and now is even more wonderful with her entrance there…She will be missed and I am blessed to have met her and proud to call her my friend.
