Joyce Ilene Clark

Joyce Ilene Clark born on February 5, 1934. Joyce was a graduate of Central High School, retired from JC Penny Distribution and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served with the Senior Choir, Missionary Society and Kitchen Ministry.

Joyce was well known for being an “Avon Lady”. Joyce was also known for being the first child out of ten children to teach her siblings how to drive. On Saturday September 25, 2021, Joyce went home to be with the lord at the Eastland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth Esther and John Henry Allen Sr., brothers John Allen Jr., Rudolph Allen and Benjamin Allen and Alonzo Allen. Sisters Joanne Howell, Peggy Garner, Jeanette Scott, and Marjorie Wright. Grandson DezJuano Johnson Jr.; great grandchildren Warren Wood, Sydney Wood and Samuel Wood.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memory, sister Bernice Drayton; four daughters Joan Ilene, Minister Judy Ann, Jacqueline Laverne, and Janet Marie (Tony). Special daughter Lorei Davidson.  Nine grandchildren Eric, Terry, Lakeisha, DezJuana, Juevonna, Tanica, Julien, Kenyon and Bozellus.  Twenty-one great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Special niece Sheila Garner and a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews’ other relatives and friends.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, October 1, 2021 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1535 Dewey Ave 43219. Interment at Evergreen Burial Park. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.

    To my family. Sending you my love and my heart felt condolences for the lost of your mother. Words can not explain the lost of a parent.especially a mother. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there with my girls during this trying time. Just pray and ask god for your strength. He will hold you up. Just keep looking up to the hills with cometh our strength and help and he will see you through.this is a dark time right now.but things will brighten as the days grow on without mama.she there with you.
