Joyce Marie DeaVault-Riley was born to Milton and Ethel Johnson on June 30, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 19, 2022.

Joyce attended Linden McKinley High School in Ohio and Crenshaw High School in California.

Joyce worked various jobs throughout her life. Joyce enjoyed conversing, spending time with her family, and helping others.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Riley; son, Glaadis “Huggie” Moody; mother, Ethel Johson; father, Milton Johson; brothers, Milton, and James; sisters, Pamela, Mary Anne, and Debbie.

Joyce is survived by her son, Derek (Ashonda) DeaVault; daughters, Mica Edley, and Nikiya “Nikki” Edley; brothers, Donald (Katie) Johnson, John W. Johnson, and Thomas (Tara) Johnson; sisters, Brenda Battle, Cathy (George) Dorton, Robin (Michael) Goode; grandchildren, J’Hanna, Terrica, Shy Raquan, Koriawn, Savion, Gladdis II, Alani, and Samari. Also, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joyce will be truly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Visitation 1:00pm and Funeral 2:00pm Saturday, October 1, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.
