Joyce Marie Washington, 68, passed this life on Friday, January 28, 2022 in Arbors of Mifflin after an extended illness.
Ms. Washington was born on Wednesday, March 4, 1953 to the late I.W. Washington and Mildred (Bova) Washington in Independence, Louisiana and lived in Mansfield the past 64 years. Joyce was a member of the New Community Temple COGIC. Joyce loved helping raise her grandchildren, , nieces and nephews.
Joyce is survived by her son DaKtari Lamont Washington; grandson: Jordan Washington; mother: Mildred Washington; sister: Earlene Washington; numerous nieces and nephews whom she raised: Dan, Savalas (Lori), and Da’Ron Taylor, all of Mansfield, and RaJan Franklin, Columbus, Rylen McDonald, Montell Taylor, and Logan Garman who she treated as her grandsons.
In addition to her father Joyce was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Ethel Stokes and Charlene Taylor.
The family will receive friends at 12 noon, Saturday, at the New Community Temple COGIC. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her Pastor , Elder Henry Bradley, Sr.
Masks are required with social distancing observed.
Services are entrusted to the Marlan Gary Chapel of Peace Funeral Home(formerly Williams Funeral Services).
