Kayzon Homer Phillips Sr. was born on January 26, 1945 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to the late Lonnie and Ella Mae Phillips. He departed this life on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at St. Ann Hospital.

Kayzon was a graduate of Nashville High School in 1964. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam war. He retired from Kineer Doors.

Kayzon is preceded in death by parents Lonnie and Ella Mae Phillips, brother James, Charle, and Lonnie Jr., sister Grace Fryer, and Voncile Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory with sons Kayzon H. Phillips Jr., Anthony McClendon Sr., brothers Jerry and Robert (Joyce) Phillips, sisters Jwanita Hughes, Janise Thompson, grandchildren, Briandi, Kayzon III, Earl, Ja’Juan, Roshawn, Shawnyae, Jaquina, Joseph, Jaqwan, Nana, Anthony, Wesley, Jaylin, Antonio, Antawan, Anthony Jr., Antonya, Tonahja, Tonihya, Tonisha, also a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation 1:00pm and Funeral 2:00pm Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Marlan J. Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace North, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

You have my condolences in the loss of Kayzon Sr. When Lazarus died, Jesus told his disciples that he was going to awaken him. (John 11:11) Jesus knew that death is a deep sleep state in which the dead are waiting for the promised resurrection. (Acts 24:15). May you have faith in God’s promise that Kayzon will live again!p
